“With the Abigail Foundation I support people in my home country directly on the ground.
Life in Nigeria is very hard for many, and most people in my homeland dream of a better life — a life where they do not have to go hungry, a life where they can feel safe.
Many of them believe they can fulfill this dream in Europe. But the journey to Europe is dangerous — it starts through the jungle, across the desert, and then the perilous crossing of the Mediterranean Sea.
I myself almost drowned in the Mediterranean while fleeing, and I do not want to keep seeing the images of shipwrecked people anymore.
I want to prevent my fellow countrymen from taking these risks just to come to Europe.
The Abigail Foundation is being established in my hometown, Benin City, and provides direct local support for people in Nigeria.
Many children have no chance of further education after elementary school. Due to limited financial resources, they cannot attend university or learn a trade.
The Abigail Foundation helps those who are financially disadvantaged and gives them the opportunity to build a self-determined future in their home country.”
